Every phone is different, and companies have different ways of delivering major software updates. For years, Motorola was the first to train and keep up with updates for its phones even before Google. However, those quick updates come with some serious precautions that, in many cases, can cause problems along with permanent issues.
Some manufacturers make their time to update to make sure all errors are cleared before they reach their phones. Samsung is usually slow to produce updates, but as far as I know, updates are just not there.
