HTC has not been around for a while now. Yes, both phones have been released in the last two years, almost all of which are mid-range or high-end smartphones. The company’s new CEO Yves Maitres, however, says HTC will not abandon the smartphone business. He shared his vision for a return to the highest-end smartphone on the market at the right time. HTC focuses on large GDP markets rather than competing in emerging markets.
He added that the reason is that HTC is far behind other smartphone maker companies. According to him, HTC stopped investing in research and development long before it focused on its VR business. Meanwhile, Samsung and Huawei trends have not stopped investing in hardware manufacturing and sales figures are here to show.
