Last June, three weeks after its launch, an initial report on the status of the StopCovid application indicated that the application had sent a total of 14 notifications. The application had been downloaded 1.9 million times, but had also been uninstalled 460,000 times.
StopCovid : failure is confirmed
Today, the General Directorate of Health is preparing a new evaluation of the StopCovid application, and we must admit that the result is not yet very flattering… In fact, the application has been downloaded more than 2.3 million times since its launch in early June. A score that has changed very little since the end of July, as the application already showed “between 2 and 2.5 million downloads”. “
Obviously, the effectiveness of the StopCovid application depends a lot on the number of downloads on the one hand, which is very low here, but also on the fact that you have to constantly activate Bluetooth on your smartphone for the application to work. In addition to this, users have to tell the platform themselves if they have tested positive for coronavirus.
All these factors mean that, even today, the application of StopCovid continues to be a failure, despite the fact that contamination has gradually increased in France over the last few weeks… Therefore, to function fully, each owner of a smartphone would have to download the application StopCovid. In other words, the task is proving particularly difficult, although the Ministry of Solidarity and Health “obviously encourages all French people to download the application”.
